Mid Century magazine is an independent UK-based biannual that celebrates the best of 20th Century interiors, furniture and architecture.

It’s also one of my favourite publications, so you can imagine my delight when they asked to feature the Sheila Bownas archive and talk to me about the story of it’s discovery.

Another glimpse

Here’s a chance to see a few more of Sheila’s designs which have been featured in various blogs and interviews over the last twelve months.

It’s unlikely I will get the opportunity to faithfully reproduce every one of her wonderful patterns but as some consolation we are working towards a solo exhibition of Sheila’s work for early 2015 where all 200 works will go on display for the very first time, together with sketches, paintings and private letters.

March 2013, sees the launch an exciting new product range with Birmingham based lampshade designer, Zoe Darlington.

The collection comprises twelve pieces across three patterns by Sheila Bownas – Stella, Alice and Ida. United by a shared focus on design, quality and craftsmanship, we have translated our ideas into a beautiful selection of lamps and cushions.

Bownas’s historical patterns in luxury wools and robust cottons sit beautifully with coordinating colours and textured linens. This collection naturally pairs Zoë Darlington’s signature take on tradition with wit with a stunning example of English design heritage.

Prices start from £50 for a cushion and £85 for drum shade.
